A moving permit is required for moving in or out and has $5.00 fee.This includes property owners and tenants. These permits are required so the Borough has accurate records of who resides in Stockertown, especially for emergency‑management purposes.

Yes. A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) is required before any property is sold, and a CO is required before anyone may move in.

Does this also pertain to renters moving in and out?
Yes. Anytime a tenant changes, the landlord (property owner) must obtain a Certificate of Occupancy. This ensures the property is maintained properly and remains safe for tenants living in a rental home or apartment building.

It is always best to check with the Borough Office or the Zoning Officer to confirm whether your specific situation requires a permit.

Generally, basic improvements such as painting, flooring, carpeting, and other work that does not change the structure, foundation, electrical system, or plumbing do not require a permit. Again, please ask about your specific upgrade or repair plans.

Contact the Borough Office at 610-759‑8393 or email stockboro@rcn.com to report a damaged can. Public Works will typically replace the can within a week.

The garbage company usually begins early in the morning, but sometimes the truck fills up and must return later.

Please call the Borough Office if your garbage is not picked up by 4:00 PM or by the next day. Allow some time for delays such as truck breakdowns or unloading.

Yes, bulk items are collected, but not always on the same day as regular garbage pickup.

Public Works may need to assess the item and return later with appropriate equipment.

If a day or two passes, please call the Borough Office so your address can be added to the list in case the item was missed.

Stockertown Rod & Gun Club is located very close to Borough Hall. They post shooting dates and activities on their website: stockertownrgc.com. Members also use the range for target practice. Normal shooting hours are 10:00 AM until dusk. You may occasionally hear shooting outside these hours when local police departments or the Pennsylvania State Police use the range for training.

Please note: although located in Stockertown, the Rod & Gun Club is privately owned and not owned or operated by the Borough.

Anything that falls or blows onto a resident's property is typically the property owner’s responsibility to remove, cut, or repair. For severe damage, consult your homeowner’s insurance policy.

Stockertown Borough real estate tax bills are mailed at the beginning of February each year and are due by June 29. To receive the discount rate, payment must be made by April 1. After June 29, interest will be added. The Borough Office only accepts Stockertown Borough Real Estate Taxes.

Please check the Stockertown News on our homepage or the illuminated marquee sign on the front lawn of Borough Hall. Leaf collection generally runs through most of November.

Typically, disposal of yard debris is the resident’s responsibility. However, Public Works offers free pickup dates in May. Please check the Stockertown News on our homepage for the exact dates.

$50/month, billed quarterly in the rears $150. Example - January, February March sewer bill is sent out middle of April (due within 30 days of receipt).
